The USAS-12 is a South Korean shotgun developed in the 1990s from the Atchisson Assault Shotgun.

Development

John Trevor Jr created the patents for the USAS-12 in the late 1980s, however it took him some time before a manufacturer for the firearm could be found. Daewoo was chosen, and production began in 1993.

Commercial Restrictions

The weapon was one of three shotguns restricted by name (along with the Streetsweeper and Striker-12) in 1993/4. Semi-automatic models were mostly affected by this restriction, with imports ending under the 1968 gun control act. The models capable of fully-automatic fire were not affected however, and were still available to Title II owners with no need for additional ATF paperwork. New imports of USAS-12 models were not undertaken, but the firearm continued seeing commercial sales in Asia.
