The M9 Pistol is an American/Italian pistol developed by Beretta for the US Armed Forces.

The M9 Pistol was scheduled to be replaced many times, with the first replacement programme being known as the Future Handgun System (FHS). The FHS was merged with the SOF Combat Pistol to create the Joint Combat Pistol programme, with that being replaced by the Combat Pistol programme. None of which provided solid results. In the 2010s, the Modular Handgun System programme was successful in replacing the M9 with the M17 and M18 pistols.

M9 Pistol

Standard model derived from the Beretta 92FS.

M9A1 Pistol

Updated model from 2006 featuring a 1-slot picatinny rail for the attachment of small accessories. Frame changes are included.

M9A2 Pistol

Concept upgrade that was not adopted.

M9A3 Pistol

Updated model from 2015 with many upgrades including a 3-slot picatinny rail.
