Overview[]
The Ob"yekt 103, erroneously known as T-103, is a Soviet heavy tank project developed in the early 1940s from the T-100.
The Ob. 103 is designed to be a heavy coastal defense tank, fitting the 130mm 1-B-13 naval gun in a large turret. A single small-scale mockup was produced.
Design[]
The Ob. 103 featured a large turret fitting the 130mm 1-B-13 naval gun. A small machine gun turret fitting a DT is present on the roof of said turret, and two similar turrets are placed in front of the turret on a lower section. Two additional machine guns are fitted in unknown locations. The primary turret has a 360° traverse range, while the gun itself allows for -5° to +5° range on its mount, allowing it to aim independently from the turret. The gun could depress to -5°, and elevate to +30°. The auxiliary machine gun turrets were had limited traverse due to their locations.
Two engines were proposed for the vehicle. A GAM-34 derivative, and the MN-1. The GAM-34 is a gasoline V-12 engine, developed from an aircraft engine. It produced 849.8HP, but the exact model is unknown. The MN-1 is a diesel engine, producing 999.3HP. The top speed was calculated at 36.4km/h with the NM-1 engine, and 30.8km/h with the GAM-34 derivative.
