Overview[]
The Maschinenpistole 40 (MP 40) is a German submachine gun that served in the Wehrmacht from 1940 through 1945. The weapon has been seen in countless confrontations since, and is still in use by militia in the Middle-East. The MP 40 was designed in 1938 by Heinrich Vollmer with inspiration from its predecessor the MP 38. An estimate of 1.1 million models where produced by Erma Werke between 1940 and 1945.
