The HMS Blanche, Hermione-Class Frigate. The HMS Blanche was ordered towards the end of the American War of Independence, but only briefly saw service in 1793, during the early stages of the French Revolutionary Wars. Blanche won several battles against privateers in the West Indies, before coming under the command of Captain Robert Faulknor. He took the Blanche into battle against a superior enemy, after a long battle Blanche forced the surrender of the French frigate Pique. The Pique then joined Her Majesty's Navy as HMS Pique. Faulknor was killed during the fight. The Blanche then served in the Mediterranean where they attempted to force a Spanish frigate to surrender, the Spanish frigate escaped.
Blanche later returned to British waters and was converted into a storeship, and then a troopship. It did not serve long before running aground on the 28th of September 1799 off Texel, in Northern Holland.
