Overview[]
The Gewehr 1871/84, unofficially known as both the Mauser Modell 1871/84, and Infanterie-Gewehr 71/84, is an experimental "repeating" bolt-action rifle, developed as a higher-capacity version of the Gewehr 1871. The firearm originates from the Kingdom of Württenberg, a state within the larger German Empire.
Despite the venerable features of the rifle, it was only utilized for a brief time, seeing adoption in 1884. It would be replaced nearly four years later with the invention and subsequent adoption of the Gewehr 1888.
