The Carrier, Guided Missile Equipment: Self-Propelled, TOW, M113A1 is an American anti-tank guided missile vehicle developed in the early 1970s from the M113A1 armored personnel carrier.

Development

In 1972, the M113A1 TOW Carrier was type classified under Std A.

Design

The M113A1 TOW Carrier is an M113A1 armored personnel carrier manufactured with the Launcher, Tubular, Guided Missile, M220A1 fitted in place of the central cupola, with the interior modified to store ammunition and auxiliary equipment.

Although similar, the utilization of the M233 APC Mounting Kit on a standard M113A1 armored personnel carrier does not result in this vehicle. The M233 converts an existing M113A1, whereas the M113A1 TOW Carrier has a dedicated platform located in place of the central cupola.
