Overview[]
The Armtech 51 is a Dutch battle carbine developed by Armtech, as a conversion of the Heckler & Koch G3 platform.
Naming[]
The "51" in the weapon's name fits the naming pattern used by Heckler & Koch firearms at the time, with the 5 standing for a compact firearm, and the 1 standing for the 7.62x51mm cartridge. Despite this, the firearm is obviously not produced, nor endorsed by Heckler & Koch.
Development[]
Due to the scarcity of information regarding both the Dutch-based company, Armtech, and its offerings makes it challenging to delineate the evolution of the Armtech 51 specifically. Nonetheless, some fundamental information can still be garnered through the limited available resources.
Furthermore, it is rather difficult to discern a year of production, or creation, for the Armtech 51. It can be estimated that if ever, the firearm would have been at least procured around 2001, which is the year in which Armtech itself is believed to have been founded. However, this may be drastically different as it is challenging to find information on the obscure company and it's products.
Design[]
Adhering to the to the conventional design that is characteristic of abbreviated modifications derived from the HK G3 platform to shorten the stature of the firearm's profile.
Furniture[]
Although the only evidence supporting the existence of the Armtech 51 is a digitally altered image, the selection of furniture depicted in the image rather makes sense for such a firearm's design.
Handguard[]
The Armtech 51 has a short stature that allows for the use of both HK MP5 and HK 53 compatible handguards, similar to other shortened conversions of the G3 platform, such as the FR Ordnance MC-51 series. In the only available image depicting its existence, the firearm is shown using a Surefire-styled handguard without a flashlight mounted, likely as an aftermarket furnishment designed for use with the aforementioned HK 53 assault carbine.
Receiver[]
According to the digitally altered image that purports to show the existence of the Armtech 51, the lower receiver of the firearm is similar to that of the HK "Navy" designs, most likely originating from the HK G3KA4 which features the recognizable lower receiver shared on the Armtech 51. Likewise, the pistol grip also features the straight, smooth grip synonymous with said "Navy" style of lower receiver. Interestingly, the same lower receiver can be seen on some of the scarce MC-51 designs that were developed in the 1980s.
The depiction of the Armtech 51 in the digitally-altered image showcases the firearm with the ability to switch between safe, semi-automatic, and full-automatic modes. Although this capability is possible, it is questionable as the Netherlands has stringent firearms regulations. Furthermore, the lower receiver of the firearm in the image appears to be a cropped version of the G3KA4, casting doubt on the authenticity of the image and the actual capabilities of the Armtech 51.
Variants[]
Left-Handed Model[]
The Armtech 51, Left Hand distinguishes itself solely through its apparent alteration to accommodate left-handed operators, which primarily revolves around a change in the charging handle, and bolt system.
