The AK-12 obr. 2023 g., also known as AK-12M1, is a Russian assault rifle developed from the AK-12.

Name	Notes

Development[]

The AK-12M1 began development after experience gained in the Russian-Ukraine war starting in 2022.

The weapon was to include the following changes:

New muzzle device - slotted flash hider, compatible with select suppressors.
New handguard.
New sights - front sight and diopter rear sight.
New safety/fire selector.
New integrated pistol grip.
New stock - L-shape, with more adjustability.

A number of trial models were developed towards the end of 2022, with a final model being chosen towards December 2022 when the weapon was revealed publicly.

The trial model was to be improved before production began, noting at the time the incorporation of a new handguard.

By early 2023, the new handguard was being prototyped at the Izhyevsk plant of Kalashnikov Concern. On 26 May 2023, the AK-12 obr. 2023 g. was on display in the Kalashnikov Concern shooting center. The weapon was stated to be still in testing, with production to begin later that year.

The current status of development is unknown,
